Unwavering Faith

There are two ways you can work toward reaching your goals. The first way is to want, hope for and try forcing it to happen while doing non- compatible activities. Unfortunately, that's not usually enough to bring you what you want. The other way is to believe in yourself enough to continually take the appropriate action necessary to reach your goal.

*(Note: See an incredible example of faith below as you read about one of my star clients whose unwavering faith helped lead his team to a state championship)

Having unwavering faith that your goals will one day be realized is not only recommended it is necessary. It is what sustained the great Bible Patriarch, Abraham.

Abraham is my modern day model of Faith.
Abraham was an incredible man. He was a man of unshakable faith. When God called him, he went out from his familiar homeland not knowing where he was going (Hebrew 11:8). Many of us have been called out of dark situations but usually we have the advantage of knowing where we are going.

Abraham simply believed. He continued to believe. Even at times when it appeared that all hope was lost. God had promised him an heir, a son. Sarah his wife had become too old to have children. It was medically impossible. In Genesis 15:6 read these amazing words; "Abraham believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness."

Regardless of natural conditions and circumstances, Abraham continued to believe in his heart and he continued to have great faith in God and His promise to him. When Abraham was almost 100 years of age, his ninety year old wife bore his son, Isaac (means laughter) the heir that he’d so desperately had been hoping and believing and for. "Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed..." (Rom 4:18)

How do you find the strength to believe you will reach the goals you have set and have the thing or things that you as Abraham, desperately hoped for?

1. Get clear – Know what you really want

2. Get clear with yourself – Analyze your strengths and build on those and stay in the game. Never give up and never quit until God helps you reach your goals.

3. Get past your past-
Quit looking back and quit comparing what you were or what you had. It’s over. Let it rest in peace.

4. Get specific about what you want- God will give you the desires of your heart. He is a God of order and as you get your life in order, He will bring you all the sources you need to fulfill the desires.

5. Get focused on God’s Power – God is your source. He is all knowing and His Loving kindness will deliver the needed strength and patience you need to endure until your goals manifest. No matter what it looks like, don’t lose hope and keep on believing just like Abraham.

Now that you have taken the necessary steps, be still and be quiet and wait on Him as you walk, move and live each day with total joy and assurance knowing that YOU don’t have to do it. HE will lead you as long as you continue to surrender to His gentle guidance.

Be like Abraham and hold to an unwavering belief that you will believe God for the most incredible miracles that are on their way to you right now.

Austin Pearce is the Quarterback at Jesuit High School and his team just won the Oregon State Championship Football title. I have been ministering to, mentoring and personal training Austin for two and half going into our third year this winter.

Austin came to me physically weak and emotionally drained from lack of athletic success the level he believed he was capable of. He had the drive, but had not yet connected with the precise expertise he needed. When we met he was 170 pounds with mediocre talent and Goliath type drive.

I set him up on a program and he trained diligently with me in the summer, winter and spring. Even while he was playing sports at school, he would come to the training center after his other practices and still train with me and worked hard every time. He changed his diet, he followed my teachings and instructions and he renewed his commitment to Christ in the process of becoming a finely tuned and disciplined athlete.

Against all odds; running with a limp, low muscle mass, little strength and very little flexibility he trained his mind, his body and God rewarded him for his dedication and discipline.

Not only did Austin gain 40 pounds of solid lean mass, he became one of the state’s fastest runners in baseball and top hitters. He also earned the position of quarterback at one of the top schools in the state. He went on to top off his football season by scoring the winning touchdown in the final championship game. “Congratulations Austin”!!

We can all take a lesson out of Austin’s play book. He is definitely an example of someone who has unwaivering faith.

Weekly Fit Tip

Get and Stay Active

For fat loss, you need to expend more calories than you expend. Therefor, your fat loss efforts don’t have to be limited to your exercise routine. How active you are throughout the day affects how healthy you are by improving metabolism and increasing the number of calories you "burn" during the day. Maximize every opportunity to be active. Exercise doesn't have to be limited to the track or the gym. You can greatly increase the amount of physical activity your body gets by making small lifestyle changes. Here's a few simply examples:

  • Try to get in the habit of taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Keep your athletic shoes in the car so you're always prepared.
  • Take a brisk walk after lunch before returning to work.
  • Choose a hike or a bike ride instead of a movie.

These don't take a lot of extra time and are well worth the extra effort. Besides burning additional calories and "jump-starting" your metabolism, these changes keep us focused and productive, moving in the right direction to a healthier lifestyle and better, long-term results. Healthy Recipe

Zucchini Parmesan

Makes
: 8 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • 7 tomatoes, wedged
  • 4 cups zucchini, sliced
  • 3 cups non/lowfat mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 3 tablespoons non/lowfat Parmesan cheese, grated

Directions:

  • Heat oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  • Add garlic and herbs and sauté for 1 minute.
  • Add tomatoes and sauté an additional 4 minutes.
  • Add zucchini and simmer 3 minutes.
  • Drain excess liquid from skillet.
  • Stir in half the mozzarella and half the Parmesan.
  • Place mixture in a baking dish coated with nonstick cooking spray (nonfat) and top with remaining cheese.
  • Bake at 400 degrees F for 10-15 minutes.

Nutritional Information:

  • Serving size: 1 cup
  • Calories: 245
  • Fat: 4.5 g
  • Cholesterol: 2 mg
  • Protein: 25 g
  • Carbohydrates: 30 g
  • Fiber: 9 g
  • Sodium: 645 mg
