I told myself I didn’t have the time to work on myself. I was too busy working on everyone else. I thought it took too much time to shop healthy, prepare healthy food and eat right. Do you ever feel that way? "I just don’t have the time!" How much TV did you watch last week? How many hours did you spend on the phone in unnecessary conversations? How many hours did you spend at the mall last month wanting to spend money you didn’t have?

Invest in your future health

This week make a conscious decision to invest into your physical future by moving your body. You can do this by working out, playing sports, dancing, and engaging in playful recreation. Put more life into your years by investing in your Personal Energy Output. You create healthy energy through exercise, good nutrition, living well and engaging in wholesome inspirational reading. By increasing your PEO you will also decrease the potential of cancer developing in your cells. You will also improve your quality of life and enhance your vitality and enthusiasm.

Positive Energy creates more positive energy. It multiplies and magnifies. Magnify health and excitement and minimize pain and disease. Train your body and get in great shape.
The more you invest in your health, the greater health you will enjoy. You were born to move.

Enjoy each day. Embrace it as a gift.

Use your time to make a difference in your life and the lives of those you love. Block out time each day for yourself and those you love. You are worth it! You are the most special person in your life and you need to spend time with yourself every day.

Weekly Fit Tip

Choosing the Right Portions for You

When deciding portion sizes for each meal, take a conservative approach. When preparing portion sizes for myself, I always choose a little bit less than I think will satisfy my hunger and cravings. If I don't quite get enough, I can always go back for more. But if I eat too much, it's too late. I already gave my body more fuel than it can use for energy, and it will likely store the excess as fat.

So, a very important key to my success has been striking a good balance between eating enough to satisfy me and to provide my body with the nutrients it needs to improve my energy, increase muscle strength, and keep my metabolism revved up, etc. But I try not to eat so much that it makes it easy for my body to turn unused food into fat. This is a skill that takes practice, but once perfected, will go a long way in helping you achieve the results you desire.

Also, if not totally satisfied, before going back for seconds, take a breather. Give your body 10-20 minutes to decide if you really are still hungry or if you are already physically or psychologically satisfied. Also, don't feel as if you must eat everything on your plate. When you start to feel comfortably full, stop and save the rest for another snack or meal. Instead of wolfing everything down, take time to savor your meal; you will notice signals of fullness much easier.

Eating more slowly, pausing throughout the meal, drinking a glass of water, and waiting before taking a second helping are not tricks to get you to eat less but rather ways for you to develop sensitivity in detecting hunger and fullness. They are strategies to encourage attentive eating that is more likely to be satisfying. Listen to your body with regard to physical and psychological hunger. This will help you distinguish between what you really want and what you think you want due to habit. Once you've mastered this skill, you will be greatly empowered and get better results.

Healthy Recipe

Vegetable and Rice Pizza

Makes
: 8 slices

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups brown rice, cooked
  • 4 egg whites or 4 tablespoons egg substitute, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups non/lowfat mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 1-1/3 cups pizza or spaghetti sauce
  • 2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons non/lowfat Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 10 whole mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup red pepper, chopped
  • 1/2-cup pineapple chunks

Directions:

  • In a bowl, mix rice with 2/3-cup mozzarella cheese and egg whites or substitute.
  • Spray a 12-inch pizza pan with nonstick cooking spray (nonfat) and press mixture into pan and bake at 400 degrees F for 5 minutes.
  • Combine sauce with pepper and garlic and spread over the baked rice crust.
  • Top with remaining ingredients and sprinkle with reserved mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake an additional 10 minutes.

Nutritional Information:

  • Serving size: 1 slice
  • Calories: 200
  • Fat: 5 g
  • Cholesterol: 10 mg
  • Protein: 15 g
  • Carbohydrates: 40 g
  • Fiber: 4 g
  • Sodium: 320 mg
